Modern Art Oxford

Oxfordshire, and the city of Oxford in particular, is packed full of museums. There is something for everyone in this rich cultural city, regardless of taste, age and education and one of the major examples of that is Modern Art Oxford. It is more a gallery than a museum and has been open since 1969. Open all year round, it displays some of the most contemporary and innovative artwork in the country at the moment and is definitely worthy of a visit.

Depending on the time and date of your visit, you can see any number of major exhibitions here featuring art that you will not view anywhere else. It is currently filled with works from the most popular British and American artists around, including Tracy Emin and has courted many of the stars of the art world in recent years; a number of who have had smaller exhibitions that revolve around the most important art of the decade. However, it was not always that way. At various times, and under various curators, you could have found work from Asia, Africa, the Soviet Union, American and Europe. That is actually the beauty of Modern Art Oxford. You never knew what you would walk through the door to find!

Modern Art Oxford still has that quality today, and you can almost guarantee that the exhibitions change from month to month so you never ponder the same work twice! Modern Art Oxford has even been known to host video exhibitions at various times as well so you can really interact with the work! It is fair to say that this building is actually the spiritual home of artists in this part of the world and will seduce any and all art lovers that walk through the door so be warned that you just might lose your head to the wonders of the art world!
