Cogges Manor Farm Museum: The Real Simple Life

Oxfordshire attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists and visitors each and every year, all wanting to experience the area because it is a little bit different to many other areas of the UK and very different to the rest of the world. It was founded on the agrarian way of life centuries ago and still retains the same value that it had then for the most part. As such, it provides a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of modern day life. However, if you want to truly sample the way people used to live in Oxfordshire then there is only one place to go - the Cogges Manor Farm Museum is the way to go!

Cogges Manor Farm Museum is on the same site as the original farm was and people have actually worked on the farm for upwards of 800 years. The area was mentioned in the Doomsday Book and has retained many of the same features that were present then. It still has the same homely feel and the features of the farm are still firmly in place, which is a major part of the attraction. Some have been restored but it looks exactly the same as it did in the 13th Century.

Cogges Manor Farm Museum has something for everyone so all the family can visit and enjoy themselves. There is a walled garden, displays and exhibitions to show how the farm would have worked in various historical contexts, a riverside walk, archaeological finds and architecture that gives the buildings character and an air of nostalgia! Even the animals are traditional farm animals as well! Children can spend time with them and learn about the workings of a farm from 800 years ago right through to today!

Cogges Manor Farm Museum is open all year round and is perfect for a family outing. There are many demonstrations and guided tours so you can truly experience all the farm has to offer. They will welcome you with open arms there so you absolutely must visit at some stage during your trip!
