Stowe Landscape Gardens

Stowe Landscape Gardens: The Ideal Garden!

Stowe Landscape Gardens is one of Buckinghamshire’s many delights that tap into the natural world that characterises the county as a whole. It is surrounded by rolling fields, lush green meadows and natural wild copses that provide a haven for all sorts of wildlife, but it actually this man made formal garden that seems to be the most popular out of all of the green features of the county!

Stowe Landscape Gardens was actually once an ordinary garden that had been designed in the Baroque style that was befitting of the late 17th Century. In fact, it was designed and brought into being in the 1690s. Ever since, it has been extremely popular with locals and visitors alike, which may have had something to do with the amazingly picturesque views and features. However, it was not until the 18th Century that it was turned into the unrivalled gardens that exist today.

The evolution of Stowe Landscape Gardens was a gradual thing and not one huge overhaul that happened in any set period. Most of the changes that occurred happened in the 18th Century under a number of separate architectural partnerships. Temples, landmarks and monuments cropped up all over the park. As such, you really have to walk around the Stowe Landscape Gardens to see everything there is to see there and appreciate it all fully.

The Eleven Acre Lake and Grecian Valley are two of the features of Stowe Landscape Gardens that you must see whilst at Stowe Landscape Gardens, but no matter what you happen to see there you will find it all in its original condition. Restoration projects occur on a regular basis so you can fully appreciate the effort that has gone into making Stowe Landscape Gardens what thy are today. Plan in a trip for anywhere between March and October and you will not be disappointed.
