Buckinghamshire County Museum

Buckinghamshire County Museum:
The County’s Most Important Resource!

Every county should have its own museum for visitors to go and see the area in all of its glory. Museums have a great way of centralizing everything and allowing visitors to see the county for what it was and is, and the county of Buckinghamshire has done just that! The Buckinghamshire County Museum is located in Aylesbury and is a must for any individuals visiting the county. In fact, it should be considered s the first stop in the visitor experience!

The history of the county is well covered at Buckinghamshire County Museum. It has a range of items and exhibitions on display at any given time that serve to highlight the history of the museum but it is far from boring. You can see the costume dress that people used to wear, artefacts that used to be used in homes and farms in the county, geographical display and of course agricultural an industrial tools that helped to create the history of the county!

All of the items that can be found in the Buckinghamshire County Museum have been found in the last fifty years, whether on archaeological digs or collections, but some of the date back to well before that. There are artefacts from Roman and Medieval times for example, as well as fossils that have been found in times since. You can really get into the wildlife and geology of the area as well as the people that lived there and the historical difference they made to the county! Everything that has ever made a difference to the county is on display there, so you cannot really categorise the Buckinghamshire County Museum itself. The exhibitions are diverse and colourful so all you have to do is just enjoy them!

Whilst you are visiting Buckinghamshire County Museum, you can actually just nip next door and take a look at the Road Dahl Children’s Gallery as well as that is now housed in a converted coach house on the same land.
