Take A Walk On The Wild Side At Woburn Safari Park

If you are planning a family trip to Bedfordshire in the near future than one attraction that absolutely must be on your list is Woburn Safari Park. Set in the grounds of Woburn Abbey, Woburn Safari Park is one of the very few parks of its kind in the United Kingdom. In terms of the sheer amount of animals on display, it can provide a wonderful and enjoyable day out for both adults and children alike.

Woburn Safari Park was first opened in 1970 as a result of the efforts of the 13th Duke of Bedford. The Duke was trying to turn Woburn Abbey around after several dim years during which it was doubtful that the estate would and could financially survive. Some of the animals were already in place by that point because the 11th Duke of Bedford was actually president of the Zoological Society. As such, he had brought various species of animal, including American bison, lions, tigers and antelope, onto the estate just after World War II. The estate had suffered and gone to rack and ruin, but the grounds were alive and well, so opening Woburn Safari Park was the only logical choice.

Today, there are many more species at Woburn Safari Park than there ever have been before, including elephants, white rhinos, black bears, seals, snakes, wallabies and lemurs, amongst others of course. All you need is a car and you can drive right through the park and enjoy the animals in a free environment where they can roam and run!

Woburn Safari Park has a fantastic policy on endangered species and will actively work to breed them so that they remain vital in this world. The latest successful breeding venture was the Rothschild Giraffe, which is n endangered species worldwide… and now you have access to it!

There are any number of displays, demonstrations and exhibitions so you can enjoy them all. Be sure to plan a day out here because it is worth every second!
