Mead Open Farm: Welcome To A World Of Fun!

Mead Open Farm is one of those places that you do not really think to go when you visit somewhere new and different but also one of those that makes your trip so memorable and injects a little fun into your holiday for the whole family. It is literally what it says it is – an open farm located in the beautifully picturesque countryside of Bedfordshire with all sorts of things to do for adults and children alike.

At Mead Open Farm there are cows, horses, rabbits, sheep, goats and guinea pigs, amongst other creatures, and you can feed and pet all of them at your leisure. There are lambs available for petting and bottle feeding during the spring as well. It can be such a humbling experience and yet will capture the attention of any children in your party as well.

There are year round activities that you and your family can participate in at Mead Open Farm, such as hand milking cows, tractor rides around the grounds so that you can experience the whole area for yourself, go-karting, crazy golf and an adventure playground, amongst other things. The majority of activities can be undertaken regardless of the weather as well because there are outdoor areas for fair weather and barns that can be used if it happens to be raining or is especially windy. This is the perfect foil for the British weather and for a little entertainment on those miserable days!

If you really want to go crazy then you should go to Mead Open Farm on a day between April and October. These are the months during which sheep racing takes place. Between ten and twelve sheep are chosen to take part and they race around the track to get to their lunch! None of them are harmed in any way by it and it is all good fun. You can even have a little bet to win a badge if you so wish!

There are always events on at Mead Open Farm with an Easter egg hunt at Easter, a Halloween them day, a visit from Santa, a school holiday reptile road show and a maze to find your way out of in the summer. No matter what, you are your family are guaranteed to have fun! and this is actually what draws people back time and time again!
