Bedfordshire has a diverse range of attractions hidden in its midst, but one of the most historically relevant and fun attractions can be founding Leighton Buzzard. The Leighton Buzzard Railway is a really popular tourist attraction today, appealing to old and young alike. There is much to do and see there, which makes it a haven for visitors in general!
Leighton Buzzard Railway is actually a light railway in the traditional style so it gives visitors a taste of the transportations links in the county before households could afford the car. Page’s Park Station provides a focal point for the attraction and has a number of gift shops as well as exhibitions that celebrate the local area, including one that draws attention to the quarrying in the area. Although the Leighton Buzzard Railway is in the middle of beautiful green belt now, it used to be surrounded by quarries, although that is why it came into being n the first place. The exhibition pays tribute to those that helped build up the area via the industry. There are also many locomotives on display and you can take an intimate look at all of them!
Just in case the children do get board or you would like a break, there is a children’s playground and picnic area. However, if you have booked to go on the Leighton Buzzard Railway train rides that occur daily, I am sure that you will not have any problems with the children! You travel through open fields and stunning vegetation so you can relax whilst the train mad can watch the world go by!
It is open from March until October every year so there is plenty of chance to see it, but the closed months are actually used to maintain the railway to ensure that safety is at its optimum.
